ENERGY VS SYNERGY

How is this applicable to dance?

< This is synergy
We love synergy! Why? Because it saves ENERGY...
Synergy in dancing suggests:
1) a family atmosphere in studio
2) teamwork in class
3) mutual respect
When a studio encourages healthy relationships between students and their teachers, it changes the whole dynamic. From a school like environment it quickly changes to a home away from home - a place where dancers can find solace, counselling, motivation and so much more.
This can only be achieved when synergy is practised daily in and outside of class. We love to see dancers helping and learning from one another, and even better, when they correct criticism given by their mentors, because they respect their knowledge. It saves so much energy that would otherwise be wasted trying to better yourself with no form of guidance.
The best way to practise synergy is in group dances. This is where dancers learn to rely on each other to have the correct steps, timing and feeling of the dance. It teaches us to join our energy in an effort to create unity on stage. If the whole group puts in the effort, it distributes the energy evenly, giving the dancers a chance to collectively focus their "spared" energy on pure performance.
Thinking that dance doesn't require synergy is a myth. Synergy is probably one of the most important attributes of dancing!
Sincerely
Your DS-team
